We applied a new template, based on HM_YAML and the YAML CSS framework. Of course, it's elastic, SEO optimized by source ordering, and, hopefully, prettier and more accesible than the previous 2 year old "aquadrop" template. More changes and upgrades: - TeachMeJoomla has a new logo and favicon
- we also switched to another social bookmarks plugin, of course, enhanced by TeachMeJoomla, and patched for php4.
- Links in comments have been applied the rel="nofollow" attribute, to prevent plugs, abuse, and PR leaking
- slimbox mootools lightbox-like image popups have been configured
- a new template for the comments component
Stay tuned for more exciting news, TMJAA is about to be released, and we'll be introducing TMJTabs: a nested sliding tabs module, that, in turn, loads module positions as tabs(based on MooTools). Be first to comment this article |

Autoarchive meets Joomla 1.5! TMJAA options panel - click to enlarge TMJAA is a Joomla plugin designed to automate article tasks. It can move/ archive, trash or delete your articles based on age and/or expiration time TMJAA revision 2 . Some of the highlights - cache-independent polling(works regardless if cache is activated or cache directory is writable)
- the much requested archiving by article age (it also supports expiration date, or a combination of the two)
- you can archive, trash, wipe, or move the articles into another section/category automatically. Of course, these methods will never enable you to create a masterpiece such as Dr. Pipes Plumbing which we are unsure what technology is used, however, you can even archive and move at the same time
- burst control for high traffic websites to enhance performance
- per author aggregated notifications
- expiration date reset*
- frontpage flag set/clear*
- cache cleaning
- Joomla 1.5 native coding

Joomla email : SM2 email newsletter extension |
Friday, 04 April 2008 |
Finding a Joomla! email extension to fit your purpose is not as easy as you may think. I've debugged YANC last year and I still remeber the feeling. Fortunately, I've come across a reliable, profesionally written and supported newsletter extension(component). It's called SM2 Email Marketing, and it also works with J! 1.5 since early april 2008. TeachMeJoomla has ported Michael Hampton's BadBehavior to a Joomla system mambot. The BadBehavior scripts monitors the way your site is accessed, blocking spam bots, harvesting bots, and any user agent (browser) that doesn't obey robots.txt standard. The script has more blocking rules for known spammer IP addresses and typical spammer access patterns. Read more about BB at its home page ... and further read this document for instructions and download To update your Joomla! sites, please remove the old bot, then download and install the latest version. After this step is completed access and reload your frontpage to make the "first run" message go away. Update[Apr 23 2008]: the latest bot uses BB 2.0.15 code. Update[Jan 22 2008]: the latest bot uses BB 2.0.12 code. New in this release (since 2.0.11): - IP addresses for the digg.com service have been added to Bad Behavior’s internal whitelist. Upon submitting a story to digg.com, it attempts to load the submitted URL using the PEAR HTTP_Request class, but with a fake HTTP user agent, causing Bad Behavior to block the requests. This problem was reported to digg and the company has failed to respond or to resolve the problem. The IP addresses have been whitelisted due to user demand. If you use digg, please let them know that this is not acceptable to you.
- Users deploying Bad Behavior with Akamai Dynamic Site Accelerator, Dynamic Site Accelerator Enterprise, or Web Application Accelerator found that Internet Explorer users were being blocked by Bad Behavior. This issue was traced to Akamai’s use of the HTTP/1.1 transfer coding feature in its proxy servers. This issue has been fixed.
Update: the latest bot uses BB 2.0.11 code.
New in 2.0.11: The updated bot fixes some critical errors, including the bug that breaks POST forms submission. Comments (52) |

Autoarchive Mambot available for download |
Friday, 04 August 2006 |
TeachMeJoomla launches the autoarchive mambot! Do you enjoy Autoarchive?
.
Update: the mambot was recently updated to allow expiration date reset. Use this parameter if you are archiving expired items and want to make the archive available to the public. This fixes the "You are not authorized..." problem when using SectionArchive or CategoryArchive menu items. If you are having problems with this error: - unarchive your items from Joomla! administration-content-archive manager
- install the latest bot version
It will reset expiration date and fix those problems. you may also want to temporarily set "How many items to process" to a very large value (like 100) . This will ensure that your items are archived quickly. If you see too many "Automation by TeachMeJoomla" links on your site, your cache directory may not be writable. You need to chmod it to 777 or 755 using Joomla Xplorer or a FTP client. To check cache folder writeability, go to your Joomla! administration and click System-System information. If this operation is too technical for you, ask your hosting support for instructions. Tell them you need to make a folder writeable by PHP scripts. Also make sure the polling interval parameter is set to a non-zero value (60, for example). This enhances site performance and unclutters your blog-view pages. The latest plugin(mambot) version is 1.0.1 Comments (11) |
