A few notes

What are mambots?

Mambots are pieces of PHP code which automatically run when certains actions take place on your joomla websites' frontend. Third-party mambots, components and modules are called "Joomla extensions", in case you want to search some on the Web.

You may think of mambots as "robots", as they perform automated tasks in response to an event.

The actions(events) that determine mambot execution are:

  • site search
  • content display
  • content editing

Mambots are categorized based on the action that fires them up. There are 3 main categories:

  • search mambots
  • content mambots
  • editor mambots

, and a special mambot category, the editor-xtd.
